This past Friday, a group of volunteers, along with the One World team (ambassador’s for all aforementioned brands), hand delivered bags of fresh fruits and vegetables to the families and seniors of the Sunnyside community. These residents live among food deserts and do not always have access to quality nourishment. State Representative Borris Miles and Walmart hope to help change that.
In the natural economy tote bags, residents received: kale, bananas, Valencia oranges, apples, plums, carrots, zucchini, and a lovely flyer complete with a heart-healthy, tasty recipe.
With the help of TexStars Foundation, Greater Lighthouse Church, Honorary Mayor of Sunnyside Sandra Massie Hines and local supplier, Greenling Co-op, helpers were able to come together and deliver more than 600 bags of grocery and healthier options to District 146.
